Why are you a songwriter?
I'm a songwriter because I just love everything about the process. Music is something that I knew I wanted to do since I was a little girl and it's been quite the journey for me to get to where I am right now in my songwriting. I've learned to love the process even though sometimes it can be hard. It's very up and down, some days you are truly inspired, and everything is flowing, and other days you struggle to come up with anything at all. But that's the beauty of it. Writing for me brings my stories, experiences, and memories to life in a way others can relate to it. It's pretty cool.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
The reaction I've received to my first single. It's been so cool to see this many people resonate with the first song I've ever released. It was a song I wasn't super sure of before the release. I loved the song but nothing I do work-wise is ever good enough, I always push myself to try and be the best I can be at what I do. But seeing that the song has done well so far makes me feel very proud of it.
Share the most interesting writing experience you ever had:
The most interesting writing experience I've had so far has been creating a writing relationship with my friend Britton over FaceTime. He was runner-up on Season 14 of The Voice. I met him over Instagram dm's during quarantine last year, and we still have never met in person, but we managed to create a really cool dynamic with each other and I really enjoy writing with him.
What makes you unique as a songwriter?
I think every songwriter is unique in one way or another. I typically write songs that come from real-life experiences and feelings I have. Those stories and experiences happened to me and nobody else therefore the songs that come from them are unique. Also, from writing with many different writers, I've found that no writer has the exact same writing process. Every writer does things a little differently.
If you could write with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
There are so many writers I'd love to write with. One I would love to write with is Julia Michaels. She is such an amazing writer and has a way with pop melodies and hooks.
