Tell us about yourself:
Hi! I'm Sam, I've been a writer/producer now for 3 years and a musician for a little over 10! Originally from LA, I graduated from the Frost School of Music @ UMiami and lived in New York for two years after.
Name of your most recent release:
Why are you a songwriter?
Honestly, it feels like the best use of my abilities, and the musical thing I want to do most! I've gotten really invested in the craft...
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I'm very proud of building a live set and coordinating all the tech for ÊMIA, who I played keyboards for. But I'm proud of every cut I have and probably will be until I have a lot more....
Share the most interesting writing experience you ever had:
Writing Needy Desperate Manic w/ ÊMIA was a big one - I came up with the chords first - I always have the tendency to jam but feel especially comfortable messing around around Anh cause she knows me and we go way back. She wrote the lyrics fairly quick and we both agreed the vibe and song was "instant fun". We also produced the song together (before ultimately passing it to Duumu to finish) which is not usually something I do.
What makes you unique as a songwriter?
Maybe my attention to detail. Going in on rhythms and melody - I can get pretty nit picky...
If you could write with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
Right now I'd love to write with Jackson Foote, Virginia to Vegas, or Mokita. They're all killing it @ vibes/emotionally conscious pop.
How can the Serious Songwriter community help you?
I would love to meet more like-minded, talented creatives after the same goals as me!
What can you help the Serious Songwriter community with?
Being a resource, a good collaborator, extending the network. I'm planting seeds in New York, Nashville, and LA.
Fun fact about you:
Perfect pitch is the relevant musical fun fact, but otherwise, I was a serious coin collector as a child!
