Location:
Boston, MA, USA
Tell us about yourself:
I am a Boston-based singer-songwriter and pianist inspired by pop artists like Lorde and Lana del Rey, as well as classic songwriters like Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and Carole King. Growing up in a family of professional musicians, I started playing the piano when I was 4 years old. Prior to COVID, I was performing my original music as a guest entertainer aboard luxury cruise ships and have traveled to 50+ countries performing.

Why are you a songwriter?
I have always been able to express myself best through my music, rather than conversation. I don't really think I had a choice in becoming a songwriter; I felt something and my first reaction was to write a song about it.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A month after graduating college, I was crowned Miss Massachusetts and ended up competing on the live Miss America telecast, where I was a top 15 finalist. The reason this is my proudest accomplishment is not because of the title or crown; it's because I was able to step completely out of my comfort zone and try something new (despite the stereotypes and judgement surrounding pageants).
Share the most interesting writing experience you ever had:
Back in March when we were all quarantined to our homes, I wrote, recorded and released a song with my brother and sister from our house. It was an interesting writing experience because despite all being lifelong musicians, we had never collaborated on an original project together. All of our influences are very very different, yet we were able to team up and create something that fit all of our styles.
What makes you unique as a songwriter?
Growing up studying classical piano, as well as jazz when I got into high school, I bring a variety of interesting influences into my songwriting. Even if I'm playing around with deep bass or modern sounds, I still try to incorporate those piano roots. Additionally, I think my unique experiences traveling have brought a different sound to my music.
If you could write with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
I would collaborate with Billy Joel; as a pianist, I am enamored by the parts he has written for piano and his ability to tell such a full story with his lyrics.
How can the Serious Songwriter community help you?
Anyone that listens to my music is helping me! I am hoping that the Serious Songwriter community can introduce me to new ears and even new mentors and friends within the community.
What can you help the Serious Songwriter community with?
I am hoping to be an active member in this community by supporting and promoting my fellow songwriters, as well as potentially collaborating on future projects.
